2001/2002 saw the first solo album release of The Silencers former frontman James Jinky Gilmour. Released on the German label Edel in France, Italy and lastly the U.K. The album didn’t even have time to hit the shelves when Edel set out to close all their international offices. Critics like Billy Sloan (sunday mail/stv journalist) said on hearing sunnyside P.A.L “I knew JJ Gilmour was one of Scotland’s best singers but I didn’t know he was one of Scotland’s best writers, there’s not a bad track on the album” Miles Copeland JJ’s former manager said after he heard the album “great songs great singing now lets do some business” Benny Gallagher from “Gallagher and Lyle” was quoted as saying “Scottish singing and song writing is alive and well” after hearing JJ’s first album.
